| George Mallory
was obsessed with becoming the first person to conquer Mount Everest. Last seen
800 feet below the summit in 1924, the clouds rolled in and he disappeared into
legend. 75 years later, climber Conrad Anker’s life became intertwined with
Mallory’s after finding his frozen body with all his belongings intact. The only
thing missing was a photograph of his wife, Ruth, which Mallory had promised to
place on the summit. Haunted by Mallory’s story, Conrad returns to Everest to
unravel the mysteries surrounding his disappearance.

| With a special foreword by Conrad Anker, the mountaineer who discovered George
Mallory's body in 1999, the books featured in the EVEREST SERIES were on-site
historical reference texts during the filming of The Wildest Dream: Conquest of
Everest - in theaters 2010. The books also include Conrad's trip journal from
the now historic Altitude Everest Expedition. The 2-book set features Mount
Everest-The Reconnaissance (1921) and The Assault on Everest (1922). These
historical texts give a reader a sense of context and insight into man's
relationship with the world's tallest mountain -- and the land and people that
surround it. |
